The Tamil star, known for mixing solid performances with charm, is now making headlines again, this time for bagging the highest paycheck of his career. Reports say Karthi has been offered a massive 23 crores for a key role in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s next film with director Bobby. For someone who usually charges around 12 crores in Tamil, this is quite the leap.
Karthi’s connection with Telugu cinema runs deep. Though he’s a Tamil star, Telugu audiences treat him as one of their own. His movies, whether hits or misses in Tamil, often perform surprisingly well here. He even acted directly in Telugu alongside Nagarjuna in Oopiri, and fans have been waiting ever since to see him back in another straight Telugu film. With this upcoming Chiranjeevi project, it looks like that wish might finally come true.
The buzz started when Chiru and Bobby’s second collaboration was officially announced. Soon after, reports floated that Karthi had been approached for a major part in the film. The 23-crore figure has become the talk of both Tamil and Telugu circles. Many are debating whether a supporting role could really fetch such a high number, but given Karthi’s current craze and the power of a Chiranjeevi film, it doesn’t sound impossible either.
Meanwhile, both stars are juggling packed schedules. Chiranjeevi is currently working on Vishwambhara and Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, while Karthi’s calendar is loaded with Va Vathiyar, Sardaar 2, Khaidi 2, Hit 4, and Martian. If everything aligns, this could be one exciting Tamil-Telugu combo, two stars with different styles but equal respect in the South. And if the reports hold true, Karthi might just be setting a new record not only for his career but for cross-industry collaborations too.
