Language, with its quirks and nuances, can often create amusing misunderstandings, especially when words have different meanings in different languages. Such was the case for Kavya Thapar, who recently shared a humorous anecdote involving a linguistic mix-up. Known for her roles in *Double Ismart* and *Viswam*, Kavya has quickly become a familiar face in the industry. However, early in her career, she found herself in an unexpected situation when a simple Telugu word left her confused and slightly offended.

During the shoot of one of her first Telugu films, Kavya was sitting with her mother when an assistant director approached them and said, "Randi, shot ready ayyindi" (Please come, the shot is ready). Kavya, unfamiliar with Telugu at the time, was shocked. In Hindi, "Randi" is an offensive term meaning "s*x worker," and she misunderstood the AD's polite request as an insult. Upset, she immediately reported the incident to the producer, believing she had been disrespected.

To her surprise, the producer burst out laughing. Kavya’s misunderstanding was quickly cleared up when the producer explained that in Telugu, “Randi” is a formal and respectful way to say “please come.” What had seemed offensive was simply a polite invitation to return to the set. Kavya recalled her initial embarrassment, laughing at herself for the mix-up, and shared the story as a reminder of how language can sometimes play tricks on us.

As Kavya looks back at that moment with humor, one can only wonder what other interesting experiences lie ahead for this talented actress as she navigates her way through the complex world of cinema.
