Indian cinema has seen many heroes playing powerful gangsters and mass characters. Now heroines are also entering this space with strong roles and action-packed stories. Actress Keerthy Suresh is the latest star to surprise audiences with her powerful performance in the upcoming web series Akka.
The makers recently released the trailer, and it has already created interest among fans. The series features Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in important roles. Both actresses appear in strong and intense characters by promising an exciting battle for power.
Keerthy Suresh is known for choosing different types of characters. However, Akka shows her in a completely different avatar. She plays Bhavani, a powerful woman who rules the fictional town of Pernuru. According to the story, women have controlled this kingdom for around 800 years.
The trailer introduces a world where women control not only their homes but also businesses and power. Bhavani leads this world and makes sure that nobody easily challenges her authority.
However, her position comes under threat when Rudra played by Radhika Apte, enters the scene. Rudra wants to take control of the kingdom leading to a fierce fight between the two women.
Radhika Apte's character is another major attraction of the trailer. Her entry brings a new challenge to Bhavani's rule. The intense scenes between the two actresses suggest that the series will have strong emotions, revenge and action.
Instead of showing heroines only in traditional roles, Akka presents them as powerful leaders who can make their own decisions and fight for their positions.
Meanwhile the trailer raises many questions. In recent years, many films and web series have focused on mass action, violence and gangster stories. While these subjects attract a section of viewers, family audiences often look for emotional stories, comedy and relatable characters.
The trailer of Akka suggests that the series mainly targets viewers who enjoy intense action and crime dramas. So even Heroines back gangster like dramas is making everyone surprised.
Directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is scheduled to stream on Netflix from October 30, 2026.
