By: Tupaki Desk | 28 Dec 2025 2:42 PM ISTThese days, it has become increasingly common for stars to do cameo roles in films. It has now sparked an interesting reaction from a reputed South Indian star in the form of Kicha Sudeepa who’s a big deal in Kannada.
Actor Kiccha Sudeep recently made candid remarks about the growing trend of cameo appearances in films and his inability to control how they are perceived today.
Known for his strong presence across industries especially after films like Eega Sudeep has often extended support to other filmmakers by appearing in special roles without any hesitation or commercial expectations. However he now feels that the same level of mutual support is missing when it comes to his own projects.
Sudeep openly shared that while he has willingly done cameos in films from other languages he has not seen similar enthusiasm from stars outside the Kannada industry when his films require special appearances.
This imbalance has left him slightly disappointed as he believes cinema should be built on mutual respect and collaboration rather than selective cooperation.
These comments came around the time of his recent film Mark which opened to decent numbers but received mixed reviews. While the film had its moments Sudeep hinted that strong cameos from other industries could have elevated its reach and impact. He also acknowledged that the current pan India environment has changed audience expectations making cameos feel more like marketing tools than organic storytelling elements.
Despite his frustration Sudeep maintained a composed tone and clarified that his intention was not to criticize anyone but to highlight a changing mindset in the film industry. His words have since sparked discussion about collaboration fairness and the true value of cameo roles in modern cinema.
