By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Feb 2025 9:24 AMUsually, the film industry is regarded as a platform where anyone can become a hero and anyone can become a hero overnight. This is an industry where success dictates everything, and there is a whole lot of emphasis placed on the same.
Coming to the topic now, we are hearing that to South Indian film industries had a horrendous 2024 and here is looking into the story behind the same.
As per reports, Tamil cinema had a disastrous year last night and as a whole, the industry reported over ₹1000 crore in losses. This is due to the fact that several big star films, including Indian 2 failed miserably at the box office.
This is followed by another South Indian film industry, which also had a very bad year last year, and that is the Malayalam film industry.
Malayalam cinema had so much promise earlier in the day, but 2024 has been a rather bad dear for the industry in terms of economics. It is reported that the Malayalam cinema recorded over ₹700 crore in losses last year.
This is mostly due to the fact that several high-profile films, including those of Tovino, Thomas and Mohanlal failed miserably at the ticket counters as they found no takers in Malayalam and also global box office.
It is sad to see two of the most talented and promising film industries in South Indian cinema, facing such a bad time over the course of 2024.
Sadly for Tamil cinema, their 2025 also started off on a very bad note as the only notable film till now, Vidaamuyarchi also bombed big time. It has to be seen if the rest of the year will turn out to be any better for this film industry now.
