Ace producer, writer and also a director, Kona Venkat is known for his writings, which are mostly fun, comic and entertaining. However, when it comes to podcasts, the writer speaks very strongly about many things. Recently, while talking about how the industry is functioning right now, he made some stringent remarks against certain directors in the Telugu industry.

“Some directors have this habit of making a 3.5-hour final cut movie, and then they will remove 1.5 hours from the final footage to give an engaging 2-hour film. But they are criminals. How come they would waste crores of producers’ money to make that worthless 1.5-hour film that will be removed on the editing table? Why can’t they focus on the script well and cut it out then itself? Such directors are criminals,” said Kona Venkat, without taking any names.

However, the film industry folks and film lovers are divided when it comes to reacting to these comments. Some feel that the likes of Rajamouli make a final 4-hour movie, but cuts out 1 hour from the final output, and that delivers a stunning output from him. The same is the case with the likes of Sukumar and Prashanth Neel. However, some say filmmakers should be like Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who don’t waste a single scene that was shot.

Well, that’s a debatable point with no proper direction because the final output always matters rather than the process.
