Some producers don’t follow the usual path; they make bold moves that shake up the industry and set a new example. Aamir Khan once bypassed OTT and released Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube, surprising audiences and setting a precedent. Now, Dulquer Salmaan seems to be taking a similar approach with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

The film, directed by Dominic Arun and starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, hit theaters on August 28 and has been performing exceptionally well. Its story, visuals, and performances have grabbed attention nationwide. Rumors spread that it would stream on Netflix from September 26, following the typical four-week OTT window. Social media buzz intensified after Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam announced its OTT release on the same date via Jio Hotstar.

However, Dulquer Salmaan clarified that Lokah will not release on any digital platform anytime soon. He asked fans to ignore misleading reports and wait for official updates, which will be released soon. Industry experts welcomed this move, noting that the film is still dominating theaters. Delaying the OTT release is a calculated risk, one that could boost box office collections further, especially with the upcoming Dasara holidays, which for India-wide kids getting for 10 days, and chances are high that parents will take their kids for entertainment.

Some reports suggest the OTT rights for Lokah are yet to be sold, adding another layer to the decision. This move echoes Aamir Khan’s bold choice, favoring theaters over OTT. Fans will have to watch Lokah on the big screen, but Dulquer’s strategy has added curiosity and excitement around the film.
