During a conversation with Humans of Bombay founder Karishma Mehta, Kriti revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs before shooting the film Mimi. She said the decision helped her avoid feeling pressured about marriage or having children at a certain age.
Kriti explained that she believes every person should make life decisions when they truly feel ready. She said, "You have one life. You have to get to live it the way you want to live it. It's your story to write. Nobody else can write it." She added that she never wanted to feel forced into marriage or motherhood because of age or society's expectations.
The actress revealed that she chose the right time for the procedure while preparing for Mimi. She had been asked to gain around 15 kilograms for her role as a surrogate mother and had a break from shooting. She said this gave her enough time to complete the process without affecting her work.
Kriti also spoke honestly about the challenges she faced. She described egg freezing as a difficult experience that affected her physically and emotionally. She said, "There is a point when you feel hormonally disruptive and almost like a pregnant woman. Your mood swings are going off the charts." Even though it was not easy, she feels it was the right decision for her.
Calling it a backup plan for the future, Kriti said, "It's not an easy process, but it's worth it." She also admitted that not every woman can afford the treatment, and she feels fortunate that she had the opportunity to do it.
Egg freezing is a medical procedure that helps preserve a woman's fertility. Doctors use hormone injections to help the ovaries produce several eggs, which are then collected and safely frozen for future use. If the woman decides to have children later, the eggs can be thawed, fertilized, and used during fertility treatment.
