A festival is like a river, flowing with colors, songs, and the emotions of people. On Monday, that river touched the heart of Hyderabad when actress and Tamil Nadu BJP leader Kushboo Sundar joined the Batukamma celebrations at Charminar’s Bhagyalakshmi Temple premises. The air was thick with floral fragrances, and the lanes around the monument echoed with women’s laughter and devotional songs. In the middle of it, Kushboo stood as a special attraction, lifting the Batukamma decorated with flowers and offering her prayers with devotion.

The event was organized by BJP Mahila Morcha, and several women leaders made their presence felt. Former Union Minister Kishan Reddy’s wife Kavya, BJP Mahila Morcha state president Shilpa Reddy, and many others joined the gathering. All of them celebrated the festival in the traditional way—singing, dancing, and circling around the flower arrangements. Kushboo, who is more familiar with choreographed steps on screen, pointed out the difference with a smile, saying, “In movies, the choreographer teaches you the moves, but here women themselves are singing and dancing.” Her words reflected the joy of being part of a cultural celebration beyond the glamour of cinema.

For the people around Charminar, the sight was both surprising and memorable. The historic monument, known for its hustle of markets, was suddenly glowing with the colors of Batukamma flowers. Locals and visitors paused to watch women dressed in festive attire, lifting their Batukammas high with rhythm and devotion. The blending of tradition with the heritage site created a picture that many captured on their phones, which later spread widely across social media platforms.

Kushboo thanked the women of Telangana for inviting her with warmth and praised Batukamma as a festival that shows unity and devotion. Her participation added extra charm and brought more attention to the event. Even while managing her film and television commitments, along with political work, she chose to spend this day with women celebrating their tradition. The video of her holding the Batukamma and smiling with the crowd is now storming social media, carrying the vibes of Charminar far beyond Hyderabad.
