When will Lokesh Kanagaraj really return?

Extremely talented Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the most promising talents in the South Indian film industry, and it has been this way for a really long time now. After the tremendous success with Khaithi, he became a star director.

Lokesh later followed this legacy with his another blockbuster film Vikram, which gave a redemption to Kamal Haasan. He then went on to work with Thalapathy Vijay again for Leo, which turned out to be a big hit at the box office.

His latest film Coolie with Rajinikanth released in theatres today, amidst Sky high anticipation, and buzz, but the results are very ordinary. The film is being represented as an average action entertainer that has ups and downs.

If we go back to Kaithi and Vikram, it was the absolute master class of Lokesh, which was on the foreground. He was an absolute master of the second half handling scenario and used to come with brilliant screenplays. But he is struggling to make quality films consistently these days as almost all of his films have been mediocre products.

It really needs to say that there is a lot of responsibility riding on Lokesh to make a solid, come back and make quality films again. He has been turning lethargic with his screen approach, and this is not what is expected from a talented film maker like Lokesh.

The responsibility is now on the extremely talented individual to make a solid comeback with his immediate next film, which is likely to be Khaithi 2. This film is going to be a part of the LCU and the expectations are through the roof already.
