Is #LCU Shut Down? Lokesh Kanagaraj Responds
They have made huge accusations on social media that ditching Tamil stars for the sake of fat paychecks offered by Telugu production houses is not a good move.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 26 Jan 2026 3:14 PM ISTEver since the film with pan-India Superstar Allu Arjun got announced, the Tamil audience are quite upset that director Lokesh Kanagaraj has ditched the famous #LokeshCinematicUniverse to direct a Telugu star. They have made huge accusations on social media that ditching Tamil stars for the sake of fat paychecks offered by Telugu production houses is not a good move.
Responding on all this criticsm, Lokesh Kangaraj rubbished the rumours that he has walked out of Khaidi 2 due to remuneration issues is not true. “Whatever you are hearing are just rumours. After wrapping my film with Allu Arjun Sir, I will be taking up Khaidi 2 immediately. Then I’ve Vikram 2 and Rolex lined up, as per prior commitments. I will not go anywhere without completing these LCU films. Even my upcoming production venture, Benz, is also part of #LCU only” said Lokesh Kanagaraj.
With the criticism in Tamil circles growing multi-fold, a clarity coming up from the talented director who has delivered hit movies like Khaidi, Vikram, Leo and Coolie, is worth talking about. Though many thought that Lokesh will take up Karthi’s Khaidi 2, his move to make a separate movie in the form of #AA23, which doesn’t have any #LCU connection, is a good move. Because the audience shouldn’t get bored with films that deal with the same topic and the same characters all the time.
