Why Lokesh Kanagaraj Cooking Stories On Failure?

It wasn’t long before Lokesh Kanagaraj was rated as one of the finest film directors in South Indian cinema. But this rich reputation is going down consistently with each film as he is struggling to live up to the expectation.

In the case of his latest film Coolie with superstar Rajinikanth, director Lokesh simply could not stamp his authority as he came up with a poorly written action film that matched no standards.

While Lokesh has been struggling to live up to the expectations, as a filmmaker, he has been coming up with vague explanation theories.

When asked about the verdict that was delivered for Coolie, Lokesh said it is not his fault that the audience are keeping so much expectation and drawing theories about the film.

“People expected this film to be a part of LCU and they thought it would be a time travel film. I am aware that I can’t control the expectations as people expect a lot from Rajni Sir and myself. But if my writing does not live up to the expectation, then it can’t entirely be my fault. All I can do is try again.”

Previously, Lokesh made a similar statement in the case of Leo, as he said, the flashback portion in the film does not necessarily validate the story. He said the whole flashback portion could have been a made up story and he could have envisioned a completely different setup.

While the natural expectation is that a young and passionate film maker like Lokesh would deliver winning theatrical experience, he has been beating around the bush with such explanation stories.

It is the story and presentation that must speak for Lokesh rather than his post-mortem analysis on his films. While great things are expected of him, he simply can’t be brushing away the negative feedback.
