Lokesh Kanagaraj Comments on RRR Timelines

Talented Tamil actor Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the most talented and desired young directors in South Indian cinema. He has this particular style of filmmaking, which brings him closer to a section of the audience, and his films are also doing pretty well at the box office these days.

Lokesh had already worked with Tamil superstars like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Thalapathy Vijay. However, he had a very interesting statement to make when asked about the extensive production timelines of his films as he appeared to draw a comparison with Rajamouli.

Lokesh stated that he will not shoot a film for three years like how RRR is shot. He stated that his films are barely shot in 7 to 8 months in order to keep the timeline very strict and also reduce the burden on his actors. He further added that he does not like to keep a hold of his actors for three years by doing films like RRR.

While it is well within his right to display the short timelines for his films, it was perhaps unnecessary to bring the comparison of RRR and Rajamouli.

Rajamouli makes films like RRR, which take three years and have the right kind of visual appeal and grandeur to make-up for the experience. The kind of which will experience that he offers are beyond extraordinary.

This is one of the principal reasons why Rajamouli is such a big brand across the country and he even went to global by winning Oscar(best song) for RRR. The clear result here is that Rajamouli is miles ahead of any of his contemporaries in South Indian cinema.

At the end of the day, Rajamouli films are heard globally, and they have a huge market in the most unexpected of areas. But when it comes to conventional Tamil cinema, no one knows even about their existence beyond South India. Such disparity in reach and image will obviously dictate longer timelines, and that is the core fact here.
