Reliance Entertainment requested a court injunction to prevent the release of the film, which starred the popular actor in a pan-Indian character. Why? A disagreement concerning an outstanding debt of ₹55 crore owing by Studio Green, the film's production firm, which was borrowed for other projects under producer Gnanavel Raja's direction.
Tension increased when Reliance asked the Madras High Court to stop the distribution of Kanguva and the over-the-top (OTT) debut of Thangalaan, another Studio Green production. The business maintained that even though the loan had been partially repaid, the remaining balance had not been paid off in full. However, it was disclosed at a court hearing on November 8 that Studio Green had paid the remaining sum, with Mango Mass Media contributing an additional ₹18 crore on the producer's behalf. This made it possible for the court to reject Reliance's plea and, more significantly, validated that Kanguva may move forward according to its original plan.
Now that the legal battle is over, the movie is scheduled to be released, and Suriya fans are excitedly awaiting his next big-screen production. The courtroom drama serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between filmmaking and financial prudence, even as Kanguva appears to be poised to dominate the box office.
What about the viewers and the filmmakers? Now that the only suspense remaining is whether the movie will live up to the expectation, they can relax. The ultimate decision, however, always determines the true winner in courtroom dramas like this one, and in this instance, the decision has us all prepared for Kanguva's big day. The main show is about to start after all the courtroom drama, so grab some popcorn and get ready for a blockbuster!
