The Crazy Re-Release Of Superstar’s Films - What’s Up?
Though collections would be good for these films even during re-releases, many are wondering if fans are getting overexploited by releasing the same old film multiple times.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 19 Feb 2026 12:24 PM ISTToday, another interesting poster has come out, announcing that Superstar Mahesh Babu’s 2004 hit film “Athadu” is getting re-released in theatres on February 28th. This time the release gets bigger as Asian Cinemas has joined to release the movie. However, that brings us to wonder how many times Mahesh Babu’s films will be re-released this way.
Right now, “Athadu” is set for Feb 28th release, and this film has been re-released many times. Earlier, we have seen the likes of Murari, Athidi, and other Mahesh Babu movies like Khaleja, Businessman, which were re-released in 2025 only. Previously, some of those films were re-released multiple times ever since the trend started with the Pokiri re-release a couple of years ago.
Though collections would be good for these films even during re-releases, many are wondering if fans are getting overexploited by releasing the same old film multiple times. It looks like until SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi is released, the old films of Mahesh will be re-released again and again. With no major releases making noise at the box office, surely re-releases might be giving some quick bucks for the exhibitors, too.
On the other hand, films of other stars are also getting re-released, but looking at the way Baahubali: The Epic hasn’t fared anything like the original release, many heroes and producers have dropped plans.
