Back then, when the super-hit Hindi movie ‘3 Idiots’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, based on the novel of the same name by acclaimed author Chethan Bhagath, was offered as a Telugu-Tamil remake to Mahesh Babu, the actor walked out of it. None other than the blockbuster director S Shankar wanted to direct the film, but still, Mahesh walked out of it. Wonder why?

In fact, Mahesh Babu many a time claimed he doesn’t want to star in remakes; hence he chose to opt out of the film. However, director Sreenu Vaitla has recently revealed that Mahesh had so much confidence in ‘Dookudu ’, whose shoot had just started at that time in 2010, and hence he walked out of the 3 Idiots remake.

“I’ve narrated to him the kind of police scenes I wrote, and then the dialogues as well. After listening to them, he told me that he’s quitting the 3 Idiots remake, because he wants to focus on Dookudu, as the film needs his complete attention and dedication. That’s the kind of belief Mahesh had in my movie,” Sreenu Vaitla said.

Sreenu Vaitla, however, revealed a bit too much, as he stated that he wrote Mahesh Babu’s police scenes while they were shooting for songs in Istanbul, Turkey. Many are wondering why they are writing during the sets, after locking the film, and that has worked for Dookudu, but later nothing worked for the director.
