Mahesh Babu or Rajamouli – Who Gets Varanasi Credit?

While a film gets success, it's always a debate whether it is a hero's film or director's movie. The upcoming film Varanasi has become a hot topic on social media even before its release. This big project brings together superstar Mahesh Babu and famous director S. S. Rajamouli. As soon as the movie was announced, fans started debating about one main question who should get the main credit for the film?

Some fans of Mahesh Babu are calling it #SSMB29, while fans of Rajamouli are using #SSR13. This discussion has been going on for many days. Even though it slowed down for a short time, it has now started again strongly on social media platforms.

In the middle of this debate, producer Shobu Yarlagadda shared an interesting post. Without directly mentioning Varanasi, he spoke about how film credit usually works. He clearly said that when it comes to filmmaking, the main credit always goes to the director.

He explained that cinema is an art. It becomes real only because of the director’s vision and effort. The director decides how the story is shown, how scenes are designed, and how emotions are presented. That is why movies are often recognized by the director’s name. We usually see “Directed by” as an important title in every film.

Shobu also gave a simple example, saying people often identify films by their directors, like a film made by a famous filmmaker. According to him, the style, theme, and creativity of a movie reflect the director’s thinking. So, audiences also look at films from that point of view.

Even though he did not mention the movie name, many people believe his post is a response to the ongoing fan wars about Varanasi. His words helped to calm the debate to some extent.

Meanwhile, both Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu are not focusing on these online discussions. Rajamouli is known as a perfectionist who works very hard till the last minute. Mahesh Babu is also putting in great effort for his role.

Instead of worrying about credit, both are focused on making a great film and taking Telugu cinema to a global level once again.
