Directors No More Worried About Hero Status

The way film directors choose their heroes is changing in the South Indian film industry. In the past, some directors were known for working mainly with star heroes, while others preferred to make films with young and smaller heroes. But now, that pattern is slowly changing.

Today, many directors are ready to work with heroes of different levels. A filmmaker may make a small-budget film with a relatively young actor and then move on to a big project with a popular star. For directors, the story and the opportunity are becoming more important than the size of the hero or the budget.

A good example is director S.S. Rajamouli. After making a relatively small film like Eega, he went on to make Baahubali, one of the biggest projects in Indian cinema. This showed that a director can successfully move from a smaller film to a massive project.

A similar situation is now being discussed in Tamil cinema. Director Mathimaaran is currently making Mandaadi, which features Soori and Suhas. The film is attracting attention even before its release. Interestingly, there are reports that Mathimaaran could get an opportunity to work with star hero Suriya in his next project.

According to reports, producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu may be involved in this possible project. Thanu had earlier planned to produce Suriya's Vaadivaasal with director Vetrimaaran. That project did not move forward, and there is now speculation that Suriya's dates could be used for another film.

However, the possible Suriya-Mathimaaran combination is not officially confirmed yet. Reports suggest that the success of Mandaadi could play an important role in the decision. The trailer has created a positive impression, but the final result can only be known after the movie's release.

Mandaadi is scheduled to release on September 10. If the film becomes a strong success, Mathimaaran could get a much bigger opportunity with Suriya.

This trend shows how the film industry is changing. Today, a director does not have to stay with only small films or only star heroes. A good story, strong execution and a successful film can open the door to much bigger projects.
