'Ma Oori Polimera' is a suspense thriller which released two years back on Hotstar and got a lot of recognition. Now, the sequel of this film has been readied and it is a continuation to the first part. The movie has hit the big screens this time and there are good expectations on it. Let us see how it turned out.

Story:

Komiri (Satyam Rajesh) who is an auto driver in Jasthi Palli village does black magic too and he becomes responsible for a couple of deaths. He makes everyone believe that he is dead and escapes with his lover Kavitha to Kerala by leaving his wife and kids. His brother Jangayya (Baladitya) who is in search of him goes missing. In the meanwhile, Komiri's wife and son face a lot of troubles in the village. The new SI Ravindra Nayak (Rakendumouli) starts enquiring about Komiri and Jangayya. As he starts investigating, he finds some sensational truths. He finds that Komiri's evil magic is related to the old temple on the outskirts of the village. What is the relation? What is Komiri's aim? What situations did he face while trying to get what he wanted? All the answers to these questions form the crux of the story.

Analysis:

Satya Rajesh is the hero and the rest of them are relatively new. With meagre budget, the team of 'Ma Oori Polimera' shot entirely in a village with ordinary production values and added a few unbearable cuss words along with a few objectionable scenes. This was the recipe for 'Ma Oori Polimera' which was released two years back on Disney + Hotstar. The movie got a phenomenal response and became one the of most-watched films in that OTT platform. The main reason for exceeding everyone's expectations is the twists and turns in the movie. The story is filled with twists and the climax definitely shocks you. The hint given at the end suggesting a second part made the viewers excited. The second part has finally arrived and the director relied on what majorly worked out in the fits part. One twist arrives after another and it is clear that Anil Vishwanath wants to shock the audience more than anything. But he left logic in this process and there are a few unbearable scenes that turned out to be a minus.

Either the first film or 'Ma Oori Polimera 2', there are a lot of disturbing scenes. Showing human sacrifices, black magic and evil rituals in today's world is something not everyone relates to. A few scenes were quite tough to watch but this movie completely revolves around them. It is not completely run on fantasy or fiction but it is set in the current time period. It is strange when the makers try and suggest that such things are happening even today. It takes you back a few decades in terms of the idea. So, people who want to watch 'Ma Oori Polimera 2' have to watch the first part and step into the theatres if you are okay with it.

Keeping all the above-mentioned objections aside, 'Ma Oori Polimera 2' will impress you if you want to get surprised or thrilled at regular intervals without searching for logic. There are more twists in this film compared to the first part. The movie runs with the solo aim of giving twists and showing another angle to everything. Though the movie is a bit slow to start with, the movie picks up pace with the arrival of the Komiri character and reveals what's happening. It shocks the audience and every twist is good. People who get surprised by one version will be shocked after seeing the other version. With the movie revolving around black magic and witchcraft, the director let his imagination go wild. Taking away a person and living with them for a long time just because of a single magic thread is quite logicless. There are many such scenes that make no sense at all as the logic and practicality goes missing. Scenes like drinking the blood of a person who he loved so much are tough to watch and digest. But it is what the audience liked about the first part and the director delivered the same but in excess in the second film. The story never takes a predictable path which is a huge plus and the audience are hooked throughout because of the regular twists. A question pops up and just within a few minutes of it being answered, we get another question. This is the pattern followed by the makers and they did not end the movie thereby leaving space for a possible third part. People who are ready for this kind of cinema after watching 'Polimera – 1' will like the second part and it should be watched with caution and without minding logic.

Performances:

Satyam Rajesh impresses big time as Komiri in this film. More than the first part, he carried the movie on his shoulders this time. His character travels in one way in the first part and takes another route in the second part. He carried the negative shades quite ably. Kamakshi Bhaskarla's character looks okay till a long time but the actress shines in the climax portions of the movie. Her character gets elevated during a key scene and her acting is quite good. Rakendumouli is perfect as the SI and the actor who played Rajesh's uncle's role was also very convincing. Baladitya did not have a lot of scope to perform while Getup Srinu and the rest were just okay.

Technicians:

'Ma Oori Polimera 2' is strictly okay in terms of technical quality. Gnani's music keeps the audience on the edge of their seats in most of the scenes. There is no scope for songs and they don't impress you at all. Kushendar Ramesh Reddy's camerawork is according to the genre of the movie. The production values improved a lot compared to the first part. But there are still a few scenes where we can say that the makers have compromised. Writer-director Anil Vishwanath used all his talent in writing and executing the twists and turns. He even went a bit overboard as well but managed to thrill the audience in most places. He targeted the viewers who arrived to the theatres after looking at the first part. People who did not watch the first film may not be impressed by 'Ma Oori Polimera 2'.
