The debate around Telugu superstar Prabhas being called “India’s Biggest Superstar” has been one of the most talked-about topics in recent months. Especially after Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced on the title-tease of “Spirit” that Prabhas is India’s biggest superstar, the Bollywood folks are unable to digest. That came out at the Raja Saab press meet the other day in Hyderabad.

To give them a peek into Raja Saab’s grandeur, the film’s team took a lot of national-level film journalists to the specially built palace set of the movie at Azeez Nagar, Hyderabad the other day. During that time, a Bollywood journalist asked if Maruthi also thinks that Prabhas is India’s biggest superstar, when there are many others.

Director Maruthi, who is at the helm of The Raja Saab, has weighed in on the question, offering a stunning reply amid national media coverage and fan debates. While he didn’t directly get into comparing actors, he said, “Prabhas is not a Pan-India Superstar or India’s Biggest Superstar, but he is a Pan-World Star. He has fans in Japan too, and you might have seen that when he’s been to Japan recently.”

At a time, the whole of India is watching The Raja Saab closely, with its January 9th release around the corner, these comments by Maruthi are surely setting the ball rolling into a bigger boulder. Of course, with back-to-back deliveries, in terms of numbers, with Baahubali, Saaho, Kalki 2898 AD, one wonders why Prabhas is not India’s biggest Superstar.
