That Interview Effect: What Will Maruthi Do Now?

In this digital age, any statement given in the past and any contradictory version happening are going to haunt the celebs big time. We are witnessing this firsthand in the case of the likes of AR Rahman and others in recent times. Here comes an interesting find on director Maruthi, whose Raja Saab opened to mixed talk on Jan 9th early this month.

Apparently, Maruthi said in ABN RK’s interview that he hasn’t done a big film till date because he feels like doing a big film pushes him into a tricky spot. “By doing a big-budget film, one has to deliver a massive, solid blockbuster, or else, he wouldn’t get a chance to direct another such big movie. At the same time, they can’t go down and do a small budgeted flick later”, said Maruthi.

He gave an opinion that doing big films is risky to a career, as he quoted examples of various directors, without taking names, who are sitting idle without work after a big film flops. Now that ‘The Raja Saab’ got slammed by the audience and critics alike, though the Sankranthi season resulted in the massive ₹149+ crores nett collection from the Indian box office.

As the talk already got spread that the film was made with a massive ₹500 crores budget, many are wondering what Maruthi does now, if his earlier comments in the ABN RK interview are anything to go by.
