Meena Heartbreaking Confession About Soundarya’s Final Flight

Life can change in a blink, like a candle flickering in a sudden gust of wind. For actress Meena, that moment came in 2004 with the tragic loss of her close friend and top actress Soundarya. In a recent interview on Jayammu Nischayammu Raa with Jagapathi Babu, Meena shared a private memory she had kept to herself for years. She was invited to accompany Soundarya on the flight to Andhra Pradesh, which ended in disaster near Bengaluru. Soundarya and her brother Amarnath were on their way to a BJP election campaign when the plane crashed, claiming both their lives.

Meena recalled the shock and sorrow that followed. “The news of Soundarya’s death was a big shock. I have not fully recovered from it even after all these years,” she said. She explained that she had declined the invitation because she was not interested in politics and had a shoot to attend. “I was supposed to go with Soundarya, but I said I had a shoot. I was very sad when I heard what happened,” Meena added, revealing the haunting “what if” that stayed with her for years.

Speaking about their friendship, Meena described their bond as close and supportive. “We were very close. She was a wonderful person and very talented. The competition between us was always healthy.” The two actresses had shared the screen in several films. Soundarya’s sudden death, especially as she was reportedly pregnant, left a huge gap in Telugu cinema and in the hearts of her friends and fans.
