Pankaj Tripathi Hints Mirzapur Film Is Coming!

While promoting the Bollywood romantic family drama movie Metro In Dino, which released today, Puneet Krishna ended up giving fans more than expected. The film focuses on four different couples in four different metro cities Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore. It brings together actors like Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sara Ali Khan in a mix of emotional and real-life stories. But somewhere during the promotions, the conversation shifted and something else caught everyone’s attention.

The unexpected update came from actor Pankaj Tripathi, who casually confirmed that Mirzapur is heading to theatres as a full-length feature film. He didn’t give away much, only that the shooting should start within a month. Tripathi, fresh from a vacation, said he hasn’t been fully briefed on everything yet but made it clear he’s excited to return as Kaaleen Bhaiya.

The film will be written by Puneet Krishna, who created the original series. Direction will be handled by Gurmeet Singh, and Farhan Akhtar is backing the project as producer. It’s currently slated for a 2026 release. No teaser, no first-look posters just a quiet mention that sparked bigger buzz than any planned reveal.

In a media space full of carefully timed announcements, this one felt almost accidental but it worked. What started as a promo for a relationship drama ended up reminding everyone that Mirzapur’s world of crime and chaos isn’t done yet. And clearly, neither is Puneet Krishna.
