Superstar Mohanlal has reportedly said no to a biopic directed by Jai Bhim fame TJ Gnanavel, even after multiple discussions. The project is now said to have reached another veteran actor, Sathyaraj.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who is enjoying an excellent year at the box office, has reportedly rejected a biopic project directed by acclaimed filmmaker TJ Gnanavel. The director, known for his thought-provoking storytelling, had narrated the script to Mohanlal, and the two held detailed discussions. However, the actor finally decided not to take up the film.

According to reports, the movie is said to be based on the life of Saravana Bhavan founder P. Rajagopal, famously known as the “Dosa King.” Rajagopal was sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in a murder case, making his life story both controversial and complex. The film tentatively titled Dosa King was planned as a biopic exploring his rise, fall and eventual imprisonment.

Sources close to the project revealed that after Mohanlal’s rejection, TJ Gnanavel approached veteran Tamil actor Sathyaraj to play the lead role. If everything goes as planned, Sathyaraj may soon come on board for this intriguing story.

Meanwhile, 2025 has been a remarkable year for Mohanlal. His films Empuraan, Thudarum, and Hridayapoorvam have become huge hits, breaking several box office records in Kerala and overseas. With such massive success, the actor seems to be selective about his upcoming roles, choosing projects that align with his current image and audience expectations.

Although fans were excited about the idea of Mohanlal portraying such a complex real-life character, they can still look forward to his upcoming releases, including the much-awaited Empuraan 2.
