Bollywood’s Top Director Calls Himself Sandeep Reddy Vanga Fan

Bollywood top director, known for hit movies like Ek Villain Returns, Malang, Half Girlfriend, Mohit Suri isn’t holding back when it comes to his admiration for Sandeep Reddy Vanga. In a recent interview, he said he genuinely enjoys Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s films and believes most of the backlash around them is stirred by public overreaction. “We make it controversial,” he said, pointing out how similar stories have been told before, just in different settings.

He mentioned filmmakers like Mahesh Bhatt and Ram Gopal Varma, who’ve explored dark and intense narratives long before Kabir Singh or Animal. According to Mohit, the style isn’t new, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga has every right to tell his stories the way he wants. He also dismissed the idea that Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh are identical, saying he felt a stronger emotional arc in the latter.

Addressing recent buzz about Deepika Padukone stepping away from Spirit, Mohit said it’s up to each person how they want to work. He added that no director wants to make an actor uncomfortable or push limits just for the sake of it. “No one’s trying to be harsh,” he said when asked about the rumored dispute over shift timings.

While backing Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Mohit is also focused on his next film, Saiyaara, which hits screens on July 18. It features Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and tells the story of two musicians navigating ambition and heartbreak. With strong industry support and early praise for its music, Mohit seems confident in the film’s direction, without needing to make noise about it.
