Mollywood in 2024 has been like a rocket launched into the unknown-propelled by the power of storytelling, it has soared higher than anyone expected. This year has been one for the record books, with Malayalam cinema breaking barriers and setting new benchmarks. With five films joining the coveted 100 crore club and the success of Manjumal Boys as the highest-grossing Malayalam film, it’s safe to say that Mollywood has created a storm that is impossible to ignore.

This year, Malayalam films proved they have more than just a place in the OTT world-they can rule the box office too. The industry, which is 96 years old, has never seen a year like this before. Gone are the days of big-budget spectacles; Mollywood's power now lies in its ability to deliver gripping, realistic content that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats. Manjumal Boys, made on a modest budget of just 20 crores, not only made waves but collected a staggering 240 crores, breaking records and changing the game. Goat Life, led by Prithviraj Sukumaran, also did phenomenally well, earning 160 crores, while Fahadh Fazil's Aavesham grossed over 156 crores.

This year saw a shift in audience tastes, with films that embraced realism and simplicity. Tovino Thomas, too, joined the 100 crore club with ARM, and even smaller films like Premalu impressed not just Mollywood but Tollywood as well, collecting 136 crores in total. The rise of actors like Soubin, Prithviraj, Fahadh, and Tovino has made 2024 a landmark year for the industry. Even Guruvair Ambalanadil was on the verge of joining the 100 crore club, further solidifying the dominance of Malayalam cinema this year.

As Mollywood continues to evolve and break records, it's clear that this transformation is just the beginning. With its creative storytelling and ability to captivate audiences, Mollywood is poised for even greater achievements in the years to come. 2024 might just be remembered as the year that set the foundation for a new era of Malayalam cinema.
