In an unexpected twist to how audiences engage with cinema, Google India’s Year in Search 2025 list reveals that not all the most-searched films this year were box office successes. Especially when it comes to two big Tollywood-linked action spectacles, they found a spot in the Top 10 searches, but for the fact that they broke the hearts of fans.

Standing at No. 1 on Google’s search was Saiyaara, followed by Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, Coolie, War 2, Sanam Teri Kasam, Marco, Housefull 5, Game Changer, Mrs., and Mahavatar Narsimha. Looking at the list explains things big time, as how War 2 and Game Changer were the most sought after films, but big disappointments.

Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and helmed by S Shankar, made it to this Top 10 list, but the film actually mirrored fan frustration more than celebration. The film and the combo generated relentless online interest for being in the news for a couple of years, but Charan’s star power mixed with a political action theme got literally wasted due to Shankar’s poor form. The film left huge losses for makers and distributors.

Coming to War 2, the high-profile action thriller starring Hrithik Roshan, which saw Jr NTR in the role of an antagonist for the first time, it got huge pan-Indian casting and promotional buzz. It was further fueled by NTR’s massive presence after the super success of RRR, but the film failed to stun the audience. Though it’s the most searched film, it became a big disappointment for Jr NTR’s fans. That way, two 2025 Telugu biggies, which are heavily discussed but commercially underwhelming, have once again become a discussion in 2026.
