BO Talk: Big Boost Needed For Mowgli!

Telugu film industry has become largely constrained with regard to the market placement as a lot is being expected of big films these days. Meanwhile, we have a series of small films that are also staking their claim.

The film Mowgli, featuring Roshan Kanakala, has failed to gain the box office momentum the makers were hoping for. Even though there was decent curiosity around the film before release, it did not translate into strong footfalls after opening day.

In cities like Hyderabad, the movie managed average bookings, but the response in B and C centers remained dull. A major reason for this slow run is the lack of strong word of mouth among audiences.

Unlike big budget films that survive on star power and hype, Mowgli depended mainly on its content and Roshan’s performance. However, the story and execution did not impress viewers enough to pull crowds into theaters. The songs also failed to become popular, which affected the film’s reach and repeat value. Promotions were limited and did not create enough buzz before release.

While the producers may recover some costs through satellite and digital rights, theatrical returns look weak at this stage. Unless there is a sudden positive turnaround through strong audience feedback, Mowgli is expected to end its run with below average results. Overall, the film needed stronger content and wider appeal to achieve better mileage at the box office.
