After Balagam, talented director-comedian, Venu Yeldandi’s next Yellamma has been quietly building curiosity though heroes like Nani and Nithin have missed it out. After Devi Sri Prasad is confirmed to make his debut as a leading actor with the film, the spotlight went on the heroine. The film went through a long wishlist. Big names like Sai Pallavi, Keerthy Suresh, even glamrous starlets like Sreeleela and Bhagyashree Borse were in consideration. Now, all signs point to one name being locked, which is, Mrunal Thakur.

And that’s where things get interesting. If you purely look at acting prowess, Mrunal Thakur doesn’t come with the raw intensity of Sai Pallavi or the range of Keerthy Suresh. Even Bhagyashri Borse is a better bet than Mrunal, feel many film admirers. However, it looks like luck is always descending on Mrunal in one way or the other, as many feel that the moderate success of her films, including the recent Dacoit, are being seen as a sentiment by the makers of her movies in Tollywood.

In Telugu, she played it smart after Sita Ramam with no overexposure on the glamour front and random choices. She built a controlled image, which is helping the producers also, some say. But in Bollywood, it’s a different story. There, her career leaned heavily into glamour. Multiple projects failed in a row and the upcoming Varun Dhawan’s movie also had her doing a lot of glam-thing all over again.

Now that she walks into a content-driven film like Yellamma in Telugu, it looks like Mrunal will be shifting her base to Hyderabad soon. Anyway, right now, Luck and Mrunal are moving together.
