In the wake of the film JetLee being boycotted by a section of distributors headed by two bigwigs, the industry has taken a big shock. Even though the issue is persistent since The Raja Saab days, when the films of Mythri Movie Makers are not being given single-screen theatres in Telangana, as the backend owners of the theatres want 60% share in revenue for the first week of the movie, it has become bigger now.

Ever since JetLee wasn’t shown in the multiplexes as well, which are owned by two prominent groups in Tollywood, many wondered what this monopoly is about. However, some got scared that Mythri Movie Makers is going to distribute “Peddi” in the Telugu states, and if that film will also not get multiplexes in Hyderabad. Surely that’s not the case, because stopping a film like Peddi, which features the industry’s biggest star like Ram Charan, will result in chaos. However, even before anything such happens, there’s a meeting on May 8th to get things cleared.

Producer Cherry, CEO of Mythri Movie Makers, has spoken from the stage of the JetLee success meet, and gave clarity on the same. “The dispute over the percentage basis in single screens has gone to different lengths after exhibitors took an unilateral decision of not screening movies from May 1st. For the same reason, Film Chamber called for a meeting on May 8th, a very big comprehensive meeting, where everyone will discuss issues and propose solutions. However, JetLee is being screened in many Telangana theatres from May 2nd, so a final decision will be taken at the 8th May’s meeting,” said Cherry.

Now that Mythri Movie Makers’ CEO gave clarity, he further added, “Peddi needs a big release and a consensus will arrive in a win-win situation at the May 8th meeting. In the best interest of the industry and stakeholders, surely everything will be resolved”.
