Opinion: Mythri Ravi’s Strategy Helps Big Stars

We have seen the likes of Prabhas various films, Charan’s Peddi, NTR’s Dragon, Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara and Yash’s Toxic that are in the production pipeline for years, and some are still there. Even Adivi Sesh’s G2 and Nani’s The Paradise took longer than expected due to their pan-India ambitions. So what should these heroes do?
Apparently, Mythri Ravi Shankar feels that maybe heroes should consider doing Pan-South movies, rather than focusing on the whole of India. He says that focusing on Pan-South will help the film be perfectly catered to the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam markets, and that’s also easy to achieve, rather than expanding the story in a way that would click with the North audience.
Recently, the likes of Suriya’s Karuppu worked out in the same manner, and even Viswanath & Sons did the magic. Some Malayalam films like Lokah, Premalu and Manummel Boys also clicked well across the south, and those movies never tried to appease the whole of India. If the rest of India works for them, then it’s a bonus. We have to see how many filmmakers and heroes will adapt to this strategy.
