Director Nag Ashwin has raised his voice on movie ticket taxes, creating a buzz online. The government recently reduced GST on tickets priced up to Rs. 100 from 12 percent to 5 percent for single screens. Nag Ashwin suggested that the benefit should extend to tickets up to Rs. 250, pointing out that more theaters and middle-class audiences would gain from it.

He explained that very few theaters actually sell tickets for Rs. 100. Most people go to theaters where tickets cost around Rs. 250. Extending the GST cut to this range would help a larger audience and make movie-going more affordable for the middle class.

Nag Ashwin’s comments quickly went viral on social media. Many appreciated his practical approach, highlighting the struggles of regular moviegoers. The issue of ticket pricing has long been debated, and his suggestion has added a fresh perspective to the conversation.

Currently, Nag Ashwin is busy with his film Kalki-2. His GST recommendation shows his concern for the audience as well as the industry. Fans are now curious to see if the government will consider extending the tax cut to higher ticket prices, potentially benefiting more cinema lovers across the country.
