A 40-year-old script is finally getting made as a film. Not right after a small film. Right after Kalki 2898 AD. Why would a director like Nag Ashwin, coming off a massive, futuristic spectacle like the Prabhas starrer, choose to back an old-school script that has been rejected for decades? The project in question is from Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, a filmmaker with a legacy, who has carved out movies like Kamal Haasan's Vichitra Sodaralu and Balakrishna's Aditya 369. This particular story has been around for 40 years, where it was pitched to multiple actors and producers, appreciated, but never approved.

On paper, that raises a red flag. If it didn’t happen for four decades, why is it happening now? Reports are coming that, as the producer of this film, Nag Ashwin felt that this is the right time, actually, to bring this project out. As Cinema has changed and audience taste evolved, market dynamics are completely different now. So backing an old script today is not just about belief, but also playing the right gamble. Acting almost like a creative bridge between the old vision and today’s audience, Nag Ashwin is said to be bringing out Singeetham’s 40 year old vison to life.

Also, let’s be honest. Post-Kalki, Nag Ashwin has the freedom to experiment, to take risks and to back passion over pressure. Not many directors get that window. Perhaps that’s the reason he has decided to bring Singeetham’s film to life, as the senior director also helped him a lot with creative ideas during the making of Kalki 2898 AD. Hope this small film is more like a delayed classic, finally finding its moment
