The case was filed after concerns were raised about the alleged unauthorized use of the actor’s name, photographs and identity across various online platforms.
According to the petition, several websites were reportedly using Naga Chaitanya’s name and image without permission. It was alleged that some platforms were linking the actor’s identity with inappropriate search terms in an attempt to attract online traffic. The case also highlighted the sale of unauthorized merchandise featuring the actor’s likeness.
Another major concern raised before the court was the circulation of AI-generated and digitally altered content. The petition claimed that such content could mislead the public and potentially harm the actor’s reputation. In addition, concerns were expressed about online material connected to the actor’s personal life that was considered objectionable and defamatory.
The matter came before Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court. During the hearing, Senior Advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, representing Naga Chaitanya, presented the concerns regarding the misuse of the actor’s identity and image on the internet. The court reviewed the submissions and took note of the allegations made in the case.
After considering the arguments, the Delhi High Court granted interim protection to the actor. The court also issued summons to the parties named in the suit and directed them to submit their responses. This means that the defendants will now have an opportunity to present their side before the court proceeds further.
The petition additionally requested a dynamic injunction. Such an order could help prevent the repeated appearance of similar infringing websites, links, or online content in the future. The request aims to provide broader protection against recurring violations of personality rights on digital platforms.
The case is expected to continue after the defendants file their responses. During the upcoming hearings, the court may examine the extent of legal protection available to public figures against unauthorized commercial use of their identity and misuse of their image online.
The proceedings are being closely watched as they could contribute to the growing discussion around personality rights, digital content, and the impact of artificial intelligence on privacy and reputation.
