Telugu audiences have always shown a lot of interest in Tamil cinema. Interestingly, some Telugu film producers are also showing strong interest in Tamil movies. One more example of this is the latest development surrounding Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Jailer 2.

According to reports, young Telugu producer S Naga Vamsi is currently in the race to acquire the Telugu theatrical rights of Jailer 2. The discussions are said to be in the final stage. Naga Vamsi reportedly submitted his proposal before leaving for the USA, and a final decision is expected within a week.

If the deal goes through, Naga Vamsi is likely to release the film across the Telugu states. Another name involved in the distribution discussions is Asian Suniel. Reports suggest that he is also in talks to release the movie in the Telugu states on an advance basis, with the support of producer Suresh Babu.

Naga Vamsi already shares a good professional relationship with Jailer 2 director Nelson. He has reportedly paid an advance to the director, which is another reason for the strong connection between the two sides.

The latest development once again highlights the growing business connection between Telugu and Tamil cinema. Telugu producers have shown interest in bringing popular Tamil films to Telugu audiences whenever they see strong commercial potential.

A similar situation was seen during a previous Sankranti season when producer Dil Raju backed the release of Vijay’s Varisu in Telugu as Vaarasudu. At that time, the movie became part of a major discussion over theatre availability during the festival season.

Now, the focus has shifted to Jailer 2. The movie has huge expectations because Superstar Rajinikanth is playing the lead role. Nelson is directing the action drama, while Sun Pictures is producing it. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music and background score.

There were recently some rumours about a possible delay in the film’s release. However, the team has reportedly maintained that Jailer 2 will arrive as planned on October 15, 2026, during the Dasara season.

If Naga Vamsi secures the Telugu rights, the film could get a strong release in the Telugu states. His interest in the project also shows how much confidence Telugu film circles have in big Tamil star-driven movies.
