Rebel Star Prabhas and creative director Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' has released on 27th June amidst a lot of expectations. The movie created a lot of hype prior to the release and it got a positive start right from the very first shows. People are praising Nag Ashwin's vision and audacity to try something that has never been done before. He is expected to be the next filmmaker to make it big in Indian cinema.

The movie crossed 900 crores at the box office already and the way Nag Ashwin handled all the big stars like Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone is being lauded by everyone. He is even openly admitting the flaws in the movie and promised that the second part will be more effective. Talking about the most important character in 'Kalki 2898 AD', Nag Ashwin said that it is Sumathi's character played by Deepika.

He said, “There is no story. There is no Kalki without Deepika's role. Her captivating performance ensures her place as the film's heart and soul, an integral part of Kalki 2898 AD's lasting impact.” Talking about the scene where she walks through fire, he said, “That is one of my favorite scenes; I think maybe the most favorite scene. But the way we shot was so hurried. We were shooting three setups that day and Deepika had to leave on a certain flight.”

He added, “It usually happens that some of the most important or magical things in the film happen by chance or in a hurry. And this is what that was. And, but just watching it in that hurry, in that rush and everything, when you just reach the monitor and you see Deepika walking through that particular tunnel in that fire, I just knew this was going to be special. She is the most important part of the story. When we were writing, we discussed this a lot. I think the easiest answer that came to us was, whose character can you remove and the story itself will not remain? And that became Deepika's character because if you remove her character, the story will not remain. Kalki will not remain.”
