For the past few days, the release date of Akhanda 2 has become one of the most talked-about topics in the Telugu film industry. The film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna was first planned for a grand Dussehra release. However, the makers postponed it and later planned to release it on December 5 after Prabhas’s film vacated its Sankranthi slot.

Fans were confident that Akhanda 2 would hit the screens on December 5, but once again, the film was unexpectedly postponed. This shocked not only fans but also the entire film industry. Now, everyone is waiting eagerly for the new release date. Some reports say the film may arrive during Sankranthi, while others believe it will still release in December itself.

The biggest worry right now is for the small and mid-budget films that already fixed their release dates. Many filmmakers fear that Akhanda 2 may clash with their movies and badly affect their collections. December 12 already has two films lined up, and both may face serious trouble if Akhanda 2 arrives close to that date.

December 19 also seems unlikely because the Hollywood biggie Avatar 3 is scheduled to release around that time. This could create huge competition in overseas markets. December 25 looks like a strong option for Akhanda 2, but even that date is already occupied by two Telugu films that locked it months in advance.

These films are coming with high hopes after long gaps for their lead actors. Their producers have already finalized digital deals, making it very hard for them to change dates now. If Akhanda 2 chooses December 25, it could put these films at serious risk.

Even if Akhanda 2 shifts to Sankranthi, it will still affect several medium-range films that are already scheduled for the festival season. Many of them depend heavily on holiday audiences and online rights, leaving them with no flexibility.
