Talented actor Nandu has entered 2026 with high hopes, starring in Psych Siddhartha as the lead and playing the antagonist in Vanaveera (previously Vaanara), both released on Jan 1st, the other day. Guess what, the actor in Nandu is a delight to watch, but that’s not enough to make it big. Read on.

Despite his commitment, Psych Siddhartha is actually struggling to find traction at the box office. Both critics and audiences felt that the film has a slick start, but then it's messy as it passes. Though Nandu lost oodles of weight for the role, he self-financed the film; somehow, the chaotic structure and inconsistent engagement made it a difficult watch. So, the story is quite important, no matter how great an actor is.

Coming to Vana Veera, the film happens to be a lacklustre story with underwriting that doesn’t translate to an interesting watch on the screen. Also, the execution was quite dated, and it doesn’t have that compelling pull, though Nandu rocked as a politician in a negative shaded role. That way, Nandu hasn’t tasted something sweet even though he opted for an antagonist role.

While movie lovers could acknowledge Nandu’s dedication and range as both lead and villain, the twin disappointments make it evident that scoring success requires sharper choices and stronger storytelling.
