They are investing heavily in Indian films as they are hellbent on dominating the Indian market. We have recently seen them acquiring the streaming rights of some of the biggest hits in 2023. SRK's 'Jawan', Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' and 'Salaar' of Prabhas were bought by Netflix.
On top of that, they already announced that they are streaming partners of movies like 'Pushpa 2', 'NBK 109', 'Tillu Square', 'VD 12' and 'Gangs Of Godavari'. These are just in Telugu while they announced big Tamil projects like 'Indian 2', 'Thangalaan', 'SH 21', 'Maharaja', 'Rovelver Rita' and others as well. This shows that Netflix means business this year and are in no mood to fool around.
But there is one hero for whom they are crazy. It is Natural star Nani! Netflix is getting huge viewership through Nani's films and they are eager to get the rights of his upcoming films too. It all started with 'Shyam Singha Roy' which was bought by Netflix and it was viewed by people in both South and North India. The craze was so much that they dubbed at released it in multiple languages on the OTT platform.
'Ante Sundaraniki' wasn't a commercial hit in theatres but it got a phenomenal response after it came out on Netflix. Many claimed it as a classic and it was topping the charts for a long time. It is still regarded as one of the most frequently watched films on the streaming network. 'Dasara' was also released in multiple languages on Netflix and it got a huge viewership as well. People from different regions love the film.
The same is the situation with Nani's last release 'Hi Nanna' as well. They released it in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages on Netflix and all of those versions were trending on the Top 10 before 'Animal' and 'Salaar' arrived. Nani is guaranteeing tremendous views for Netflix and it is why they bought the streaming rights for his next movie 'Saripodha Sanivaaram' also. Insiders say that they spent over 45 crores to get the rights.
