It’s not every day that a top-tier actress revisits a misstep from her early days, but Nayanthara isn’t one to gloss over her past. Speaking candidly, she called out her role in Ghajini as one of the few career decisions she truly regrets. “They made me look ugly in that film,” she said bluntly, referring to the way her character was styled and shot. Cast as a secondary character next to Asin, Nayanthara felt sidelined both in terms of screen time and presentation. “The photos were bad. What they promised, they didn’t show. It was the wrong call.”

For someone who’s now considered the undisputed Lady Superstar across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema, that kind of transparency is rare. But it’s also what makes Nayanthara stand out, she owns both the wins and the mistakes. Ghajini, despite its blockbuster status, taught her the importance of how a role is presented, not just what’s written on paper. “It became a lesson,” she added one that clearly shaped her future choices.

Today, she’s far removed from those days. Her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan smashed records and introduced her to a pan-India audience. Back home, she’s back on set with Chiranjeevi for a high-profile film directed by Anil Ravipudi. The first look video alone has fans buzzing, and she’s also picking up strong, female-driven projects in Tamil roles where she’s not just present, but in full control.

It’s easy to forget where stars like Nayanthara began but when they remind you, it hits harder. Her Ghajini regret isn't just a throwback it’s a sharp reflection of how far she’s come. Not every film builds a legacy, but every mistake can build character. And in Nayanthara’s case, that lesson clearly paid off.
