National award-winning actress Nithya Menon has recently opened up about personal details that many fans may not be aware of. Selected for the prestigious National Best Actress award for her performance in the film "Thiruchitrambalam," Nithya shared insights into her family life in a recent interview.

Contrary to popular belief, Nithya's last name is not "Menon." Her actual name is NS Nitya, where "N" signifies Nalini, her mother's name, and "S" stands for Sukumar, her father's name. Notably, surnames are not used within her family, reflecting their conscious decision to avoid associating caste with their names.

Due to her frequent travels abroad for her professional commitments, Nithya had to include the surname "Menon" in her passport. Interestingly, this addition has led to many assuming she is from Kerala. Production houses often contact her inquiring about flight tickets from Kochi, which always brings a chuckle from Nithya. In reality, her family hails from Bangalore and has been residing there for three generations.

Nithya surprised many by revealing that Kannada was her second language during her school days. This unexpected detail further highlights her diverse background and challenges her preconceived notions about her identity.
