In the illustrious career of director Surender Reddy, there are some shocking flops, and Jr NTR’s Oosaravelli is one among them. Starring Tamannaah Bhatia as the film’s female lead, the movie has an interesting story and also a blockbuster album and background score composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

Though many fans and film lovers like that movie big time, somehow the film didn’t work during the time of its release. While most of the story is borrowed from a Chinese thriller movie titled “Vengeance”, the film holds ground for its elevated scenes, comedy, and stunning commercial elements. However, the film didn’t work out at the box office, as the audience was shocked by certain aspects of the movie.

Speaking about the same, director Surender Reddy, in a recent interaction, said, “Oosaravelli, according to me, is not a flop. I love that film and that screenplay is still something that’s worthy amongst all my movies. To date, I like Oosaravelli amongst my works”. Of course, what the director of films like Kick, Sye Raa and Agent said is true, because the film still holds a special place in the hearts of some serious film lovers.

Maybe when commercial films are the rage, Oosaravelli is well ahead of its time, and it hasn’t connected to those masses who expected thigh-slappings and punch dialogues. Otherwise, the film has very fresh ingredients of that time, and even now, it sounds great to see those fights and comedy sequences.
