Kannada director R. Chandru has stirred up some chatter in Tollywood after the huge success of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s OG. The film, directed by Saaho fame Sujeeth, has been smashing records since its release, with Pawan Kalyan looking every bit the stylish gangster fans love. OG has already raked in over ₹300 crores worldwide, making it one of this year’s biggest hits.

Chandru, who made the 2023 Kannada film Kabza starring Upendra, recently claimed in an interview that OG borrowed heavily from his movie. He said, “I made Kabza with Upendra as the hero. Taking that film as inspiration, Pawan Kalyan made OG. Most of the scenes are similar.” As expected, the comments went viral, and social media fans reacted quickly, some defending Pawan Kalyan, others debating the similarities.

But many people aren’t taking Chandru’s claims seriously. Kabza got a lukewarm response in Kannada and barely made an impact in Telugu.
