'OMG 2' Not Suitable For Telugu Remake!?

Bollywood is enjoying a good run of form over the past two months. Keeping 'Jawan' apart, they got two successful films in the month of August. While the first film is Sunny Deol's action drama 'Gadar 2' which earned nearly 600 crores, the other film is 'Oh My God 2'. This mature courtroom drama collected more than 150 crores and won the appreciation of many. While all this is good, there is news coming out that a few Telugu producers are trying to get the remake rights for 'OMG 2'.

Fans are now getting worried as there is no connection between 'OMG' and 'OMG 2'. As we know, the first part was remade as 'Gopala Gopala' in Telugu where Venkatesh played the lead role while Pawan Kalyan was seen as the god. The first part was all about the fight of an atheist whose business got destroyed by an earthquake against god as the insurance company calls it 'An Act Of God'. However, the second part deals with sex education for school children. The makers dealt with it in a compassionate manner without crossing the line.

But a movie on this concept may not work with the Telugu audience. 'OMG 2' worked mainly because it ran very well in the A centers all over North India which was enough for it to make profits. But a Telugu film needs to penetrate into the masses to become successful. Families may not show interest in watching this concept in theatres and the censor board is going to have a tough time passing a lot of scenes. Also, Pankaj Tripathi is the hero in 'OMG 2' while Akshay plays an extended cameo.

The film is a conversational drama that happens mostly in a courtroom. It is tough to make this film in an exact manner in Telugu. Though Venkatesh who played the main lead in the 'OMG' remake might agree for this film, fans of Pawan don't want their hero in such a small role. A lot of people agree that 'OMG 2' is not suitable for Telugu remake when we think practically but we need to wait and see if any producer is willing to take the risk of remaking it.
