OTT Talk: All Telugu Films Will Be Checked From Now
Gone are the days when films that didn’t click at the box office used to get superior attention on OTT platforms.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 7 May 2026 9:00 PM ISTGone are the days when films that didn’t click at the box office used to get superior attention on OTT platforms. And that eventually resulted in films that are blockbusters and above-average movies during theatrical release are not getting attention on OTT platforms. However, these days, films are behaving differently on OTT platforms too.
Last week, just after completing their 4-week window, both the films RaaKaaSaa and Sharwanand’s Biker, which released in theatres around the same time, have hit OTT platforms too. Both are released on Netflix. But when we look at numbers, something shocking is noticed. In the first week of its release on Netflix, Sharwa’s Biker failed to get into even the Top 10 of the Non-English films list of Netflix. Many expected that Biker would actually click big time on the OTT and cut across many language audiences. Quite shockingly, while Raakaasa stood at No.7, clocking 1.2 million views in the first week. Reports are coming that the failure of “Biker” on Netflix is leading to big debates in OTT circles now.
As per some discussions being heard in Film Nagar, OTT platforms are said to be coming with the idea that either they are given the full script first, or be shown the movie, for them to invest. Of course, reading scripts won’t help the OTTs, but if they keep watching every film before buying, then they might not buy many movies in the coming days. That means all Telugu films will be checked and evaluated now.
