Once upon a time, the advent of OTTs brought in huge money for Telugu movie producers, but now they have become a curse to the industry because they are not approving films as quickly and are not buying films anymore. Guess what, this situation has taken another turn now, as OTTs started buying small films that have terrific content. But then, the competition is something we have to keep an eye on.

Apparently, OTTs started buying some small films and created a new audience for them. With the kind of content that was acquired by bigger players like Amazon and Netflix in recent times, it looks like, though, they might not buy out a big film, but would not leave a small movie that made a huge hit at the box office. Or a small movie that had a huge concept but hasn’t worked out at the box office. But then, getting visibility on OTT is not an easy task, because there’s a lot of competition from world cinema.

Though OTTs have brought good days to small cinema, surely they have also brought in huge competition for the same. Only if the concept is huge, strong and stunning, then it would work out. Otherwise, things are not easy, even to get approvals, go into the production line, and make something work for the OTT platforms.
