OTT Platforms Causing Tremors In Tollywood!

As it is known, we have around 5-6 crazy projects getting released during the Sankranti season. All the movies have announced the release dates and have struck with the announced dates without postponing them. Knowing the festive period, we can predict that all the movies will have enough space to get good collections. But the new clause laid down by the OTT platforms has created a big concern among the Tollywood makers.

As per the new deals, the OTT platforms are making sure that a hit film during the Sankranti season will be made available on their streaming site within 29-30 days. If the movie flops in theatres, these films will be streaming from Republic Day itself (2 weeks). These are the demands that were reportedly put forth by the OTT heads and insiders reveal that producers who earlier fought for a 6-8 weeks gap between the theatrical release and the OTT release of a film are now agreeing to these demands.

This means that the box-office success will determine the date of OTT release. But, this deal is going to severely affect the theatrical business and it is causing tremors in the movie industry. If the film fails, the producers are unable to get the desired money from the OTT heads and signing this deal is the only way they could recover a good amount of money. This is why producers are going ahead with it according to reports. With opinions being split over these brand new deals, we need to wait and see how things turn out in the coming days.
