It is now clear that neither the producers nor the OTT platforms are following the rule of maintaining 8 weeks gap between the theatrical release and the OTT release. Despite 'Salaar' running in a few screens, it was made available on Netflix in just 28 days. The views are phenomenal and it is getting a lot of recognition outside the country as well but it should be agreed that the movie came very early.

Kalyan Ram's 'Devil' arrived within two weeks of its theatrical release. It is not a very bad film as it got decent reviews. Now, 'Saindhav' is all set to arrive on Prime Video from 3rd February and it was released in theatres on 13th January. We don't know if this decision is right or wrong as the producer who spent crores of money has the right to decide who and how to sell his product. When they believe that the content may not be very appealing or if the OTT offers huge money, they agree to certain kinds of deals.

If they want to help the distributors when the movie fails at the box office, taking huge offers from OTT platforms is the only way. That is what the producers are doing. There is another side to this argument which says that people won't arrive in theatres to watch average films if they end up getting streamed within 2-3 weeks of its release. It is not entirely true as the public proved that they would walk into theatres if the content is impressive. 'Hanu-Man' and 'Balagam' are examples of it as we have seen the OTT release dates pushed further due to its reception in theatres. They showed that the reaction is quite the opposite when the movie is bad. 'Bholaa Shankar' and 'Saindhav' are examples in this case. So, content should be given utmost importance.
