Opinion: Pan-India Ambitions Affecting Heroines?

These days, Bollywood heroines like Janhvi Kapoor want to rule the South as well, and southern sirens like Rashmika Mandanna want to do more films in Hindi. This is because every heroine wants to become a pan-India starlet, as Prabhas has become. However, this ambition is said to be affecting the careers of these heroines at both places. Have a look.

Apparently, it all started long back with the likes of Trisha, Kajal Aggarwal and Tamannaah, who are ruling the South, but tried their luck in Bollywood, and failed big time. Now, after Tamannaah clicked there in Bollywood with item songs, her South career went for a toss. At the same time, some heroines like Keerthy Suresh wanted to make it big in Bollywood, but became just a one-film wonder. However, the spicy show in Bollywood resulted in southern tinsel towns demanding the same, and as she didn’t agree to such roles, roles came down.

The same is the case with the likes of Samantha, who settled in Mumbai to do Bollywood movies, but nothing happened. Later, she did a couple of web series there, but the name she inherited is none. Only after she came back to Telugu again, the actress find success. At the same time, while doing well in Bollywood, Wamiqa Gabbi is trying her luck in Malayalam and Tamil, and those projects got delayed. Rukmini Vasanth is also trying a film here and there, and that made her slow down in Kannada, Telugu and Hindi as well.

However, shooting for South films makes them miss the Hindi films. At the same time, if films don’t click here (or there), the impact will be felt on other tinsel towns too. So how to crack the Pan-India code then? Only time has the answer.
