There is this one particular Indian film that is coming up from South Indian cinema in the next few days and it has generated a lot of discussion as the makers are pumping up early theatrical business.

A big South Indian film is currently making waves in trade circles, not just for its scale but for the aggressive numbers being circulated around its theatrical business. After reportedly claiming a massive ₹120 crore deal for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets, the makers are now pushing figures of nearly ₹105 crore for the overseas rights. These valuations have raised eyebrows, with many in the industry wondering whether the strategy is more about perception building than realistic trade expectations.

The speculation does not stop there. Market talk suggests that the Hindi theatrical rights could be positioned at around ₹200 crore. Adding to that, the combined value from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala is also being discussed at close to another ₹200 crore.

If all these numbers are to be believed, the film’s theatrical business alone would cross an astonishing ₹600 crore even before hitting the big screens. Such projections automatically push the breakeven requirement to roughly ₹1,100 crore worldwide, a figure only a handful of Indian films have ever managed to approach.

Trade experts note that circulating huge numbers has increasingly become a marketing tool to create a perception of grandeur, build hype, and signal box office dominance long before release. Whether this gamble converts into real collections, however, remains the ultimate test.
